Hello, My name is Jason L Becker.
Welcome to my digital home.
Please come in, kick off your shoes and make your self comfortable while I start a pot of tea so we can get to know each other. Please ignore the dust as I am in the process of remodeling.
….
Now that we are settled let me tell you about where I come from.
As you may have noticed in my tag line, I grew up a Third Country Kid (TCK), more specifically a Foreign Service Brat. For me, this means that I spent the majority of my younger life outside of the US and that my father was a Foreign Service Officer (USAID).
Where have I lived?
Now that is always a fun question to answer.
- Columbia, MO, USA (3 years)
- Managua, Nicaragua (2 years)
- Reston, VA, USA (1 year)
- Port-Au-Prince, Haiti (2 years)
- Bourbonais, IL, USA (1 year)
- Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (formerly Upper Volta) (3 years)
- Lake of Egypt & Urbana, IL, USA (2 years)
- New Delhi, India (2 years)
- Bloomington/Normal, Illinois, USA (6 years)
- Falls Church/Burke/Sterling, VA, USA (10 years)
- Flower Mound, TX, USA (6 years)
- Easton/Perkasie/Colmar, PA, USA (5 years)
So where is home?
Having traveled and moved as much as I have, home is no longer a physical place for me as much as the location where my family is together. It is somewhat strange that even after being mostly settled for the last 20+ years, I still find I can be just as comfortable calling a hotel room in a new city home as the place where I have all of my stuff. As the saying goes “Home is where the heart is” and as long as I can connect to those I love, I feel at home.
~Knock! Knock! Knock!
My apologies… Let me see who is at the door and I will be happy to answer more of your questions as soon as I get back.
